Brooklyn Beckham shows off English breakfast sandwich recipe

Brooklyn Beckham has received some brutal feedback following his brief cameo on breakfast TV in America.

Social media reacted savagely to the 22-year-old’s stint on the Today show on Wednesday morning, where the aspiring culinary star displayed his supposed cooking skills during the broadcast.

Victoria and David Beckham ‘s eldest child didn’t exactly impress viewers with his ‘recipe’ for an English breakfast sandwich on the American breakfast TV programme.

Despite joining Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly for a cooking segment, the young star actually did very little cooking live on-air – instead assembling a sandwich of pre-cooked meat.

Brooklyn Beckham shared his recipe for a breakfast butty with American TV viewers on Wednesday

The former aspiring photographer proudly shared his ‘recipe’ for an English breakfast sandwich as he made his debut on the popular American breakfast programme.

Brooklyn confessed that the recipe for the dish – which consists of bacon, sausage and egg sandwiched between two pieces of bread – is something that has been in his family for generations, and that he learned how to cook the butty thanks to his great-grandmother.

The aspiring cook talked Today show hosts through how to assemble the sandwich

Explaining that he developed a passion for cooking while in lockdown last year, the social media sensation talked viewers and the show’s hosts through the construction of the easy-to-assemble breakfast delicacy.

Thanks to a clip of his TV appearance being shared on Twitter, viewers from both sides of the Atlantic where able to pass judgement on the aspiring chef’s cooking skills – with many not impressed by the young star.

“Brooklyn Beckham went on tv to show his culinary skills and cooked……a breakfast sandwich. I am done!” one critic tweeted after the show aired on Wednesday.

Many social media critics found the star’s culinary creation to be underwhelming

“Embarrassing for everyone involved,” another viewer mused, adding: “Who paid who to get this aired?”

A third unimpressed viewer sarcastically quipped: “…..and next on ‘Today’ social media sensation Brooklyn Beckham will be showing us how to boil a kettle.”

Even Piers Morgan chimed in, tweeting a clip of the show and writing: “Worst, most unutterably pointless segment in morning television history?”

Although Brooklyn did share a second recipe during his time on the show – for steak quesadillas – it was his great-grandmother’s breakfast sandwich that got everyone talking.

Frying some eggs was the only bit of on-air cooking Brooklyn carried out

The brief segment saw the budding chef use pre-prepared bacon and sausages for the filling of his breakfast bap – with the only live cooking being the star frying some eggs on-air.

Viewers watched as he stacked his meat on a piece of unbuttered white bread, before adding the eggs, a dollop of ketchup and. a second slice of bread to complete his masterpiece.

While constructing his sandwich, Brooklyn revealed that he discovered his culinary skills during last year’s periods of quarantine.

The star and fiancée Nicola Peltz spent lockdown together in New York, as the rest of the Beckham clan isolated in the Cotswolds.

“I’ve always loved food and obviously when quarantine hit I just really started to get into it,” he explained during his TV appearance on Wednesday.

“My fiancee started filming me and I started posting it and it’s just something I love doing.”
