There are many, many eateries to choose from on Sanibel. Yet only a handful of Sanibel Island restaurants are consistently named as favorites with locals as well as visitors and tourists. Timbers and the Sanibel Grill both received “Best of the Best” readers’ choice awards in an annual poll the Island Reporter sponsors.
Dine at Timbers for “Best Seafood”
In the past, Timbers restaurant as received “Taste of the Island” dining awards including best restaurant for steak, best restaurant for dinner and best seafood entrée, among others. This year, the Island Reporter’s readers chose Timbers as the best among Sanibel Island restaurants for seafood.
On the menu you’ll find the Island’s largest selection of fresh fish and seafood. Each day, the menu includes a “Fresh Fish Report” that includes the fresh catches of the day. You can also enjoy dishes specially designed around these daily catches as part of the daily menu.
You’ll find all of your favorites on Timbers’ menu, including Florida Lobster Tail, Sea Scallops and Captiva Crab cakes. There’s a huge variety of shrimp entrees to choose from including Skewered Shrimp, Steamed Shrimp, Baked Stuffed Shrimp, and Shrimp Scampi. Crunchy Shrimp along with Crunchy Grouper are two specialties of the house.
You can also enjoy your choice of platters at Timbers, including a Broiled or Fried Seafood Platter or the Crunchy Platter that includes both Crunchy Shrimp and Crunchy Grouper. The Triple Shrimp Platter includes Shrimp Scampi, Crunchy Shrimp plus Baked Stuffed Shrimp.
Enjoy the Game at the Sanibel Grill
The Sanibel Grill was voted the “Best Place to Watch a Game” in the 2010 Island Reporter’s readers’ choice poll. The Sanibel Grill is now open Saturdays and Sundays for football at 11:30 am. You can view the college as well as pro football games on 16 big screen TVs.
You can enjoy a great selection of soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and much more at the Sanibel Grill while you watch your favorite sports game. Since the Sanibel Grill and Timbers share the same kitchen, you can count on getting the best seafood here, as well.
